When you picture fog, what do you see? Light trickles that vanish in seconds? Thick, billowing plumes that take over a room? Slow, rolling clouds that hug the ground?
Every fog look comes down to a few things:
- Volume: how much fog a machine puts out
- Density: how thick the fog is
- Hang time: how long it lingers
- Run time: how long the machine can keep it going
Mix and match those, and the creative possibilities are endless. The Prodigy Series is built to cover all of them.
Prodigy, Prodigy+, and Prodigy Pro make up Master FX's range of professional fog generators, pairing sleek design with serious performance. From small venues to arenas, theaters to sports intros, concerts to theme parks; there's a Prodigy for every job. Each machine has its own role, but all three share the same DNA: easy to use, creatively flexible, and built to last. So which one fits what you're imagining? Let's break it down.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Back in 2017, the team at Master FX saw a gap. Fog machines were basic. There was no way to adjust temperature, controls were a puzzle, swapping fluid was a hassle, and machines failed when it counted, usually backed by thin warranties. So we built what we wished existed.
DISCOVER THE ORIGIN OF THE PRODIGY SERIES:
The original Prodigy and Prodigy+ launched with intelligent temperature control, an automatic low-fluid shutoff to keep pumps from running dry, intuitive controls, external fluid tanks with quick-disconnect fittings, and industry-leading warranties. The industry took notice. Finally, something new. Finally, something reliable.
Over the years, Prodigy and Prodigy+ picked up software updates, more compact designs, and new control features. In 2023, the lineup grew with the addition of Prodigy Pro. The Prodigy Series was never just about building a fog machine. It was about building a lineup that keeps evolving with the industries it serves.
SAME DNA, DIFFERENT STRENGTHS
Every Prodigy shares the essentials. All three work with every Master FX fog fluid, offer variable output from 1 to 100%, and feature quick-disconnect fluid fittings, DMX control, and mounting options. They also include an automatic low-fluid shutoff and intelligent temperature control, so whatever fluid you're running vaporizes the way it should.
PRODIGY: SMALL BUT MIGHTY
Prodigy is the most compact machine in the lineup, built for spaces where a little fog goes a long way. It tucks away easily, making it a natural fit for installations where every inch counts. Say you want to recreate exhaust fumes in a tight setup; the Prodigy can run continuously with a light, gentle output that sells the effect without overwhelming the space.
Price:$599 / Warranty: 3 years / Power: 120V 1200W / Weight: 26lbs / Dims: 17.5in x 9in x 7in
PRODIGY+: TURN UP THE VOLUME
When Prodigy isn't quite enough, but Prodigy Pro is more than you need, the Prodigy+ is your machine. Think of it like buying a midsize truck: the sedan couldn't haul enough, but a heavy-duty pickup would be overkill. Prodigy+ brings more volume for bigger rooms, outdoor setups, and longer run times. Pair it with Genesis and it'll put down low-lying fog too.
Price: $1499.99 / Warranty: 3 years / Power: 120V 1500W / Weight: 35lbs / Dims: 22.5in x 11in x 7.5in
PRODIGY PRO: ONE METRIC TON OF FOG, COMING UP
When you need a lot of fog and you need it fast, Prodigy Pro answers the call. It's the only machine in the series with two heaters and two outputs. Users can alternate the heaters for extended run times, or fire them together for extreme volume. The 3-channel DMX mode lets you control each output individually, which opens up a lot of options for ducting fog to different spots. Everything runs through an intuitive touchscreen, and it pairs with Genesis for high-volume low fog. All that power, and it still comes in a compact form factor.
Price: $3,499.99 / Warranty: 10 years / Power: 120V 2000W or 208-240V 4000W / Weight: 55lbs / Dims: 22.5in x 12.25in x 9.75in
BUILT FOR WHAT'S NEXT
Whatever fog you're picturing, there's a Prodigy Series fog generator that can bring it to life. Since 2017, the series has kept evolving, and it isn't finished yet. Sitting still isn't really our thing.
