How the Prodigy Series Started the Master FX Fog Lineup

In 2017, Master FX entered professional fog machine manufacturing with the introduction of the Prodigy Series.  The original Prodigy and Prodigy+ models established a practical foundation: dependable output, protection for the machine, flexible control, and compatibility with a range of fluids.

The specifications have evolved, but those priorities still define the current Prodigy lineup.

A platform built for flexible effects

The original machines offered variable output from 1–100%, allowing operators to move between restrained atmosphere and denser fog without changing equipment. Continuous output supported scenes and environments that needed fog over a longer period, while an integrated timer made repeatable stand-alone operation possible.

Both models used low-fluid sensing to help prevent pumps from running dry. External containers with quick-disconnect fittings made fluid changes and refilling easier during and between productions.

Control for different system sizes

The original Prodigy supported 3-pin DMX and a wired remote connection. Prodigy+ expanded connectivity with both 3-pin and 5-pin DMX, making it easier to integrate into larger professional systems.

Those control options reflected a central goal of the series: the same fog platform should work for a mobile operator, a small venue, or a production using a full lighting console.

Fluid compatibility expanded the creative range

Master FX fog fluids are formulated for different outcomes, from quick-dissipating bursts to long-lasting atmosphere and low-lying effects. The Prodigy Series was designed to work across that range.

Intelligent temperature control helped each machine vaporize compatible fluids effectively. That let designers change the look by changing the fluid instead of purchasing a different fog generator for every application.

The current Prodigy

Today’s Prodigy continues the compact, approachable side of the series. The 1,200-watt machine provides output up to 25,000 CFM, variable control, an integrated timer, a smart OLED panel, low-fluid shutoff, and 3-pin DMX. It remains compatible with the complete Master FX fog-fluid range.

The current Prodigy+ V2

Prodigy+ V2 advances the higher-output model with a more compact design, a refined 1,500-watt heating system, and 42,000 CFM of output. Integrated fluid selection automatically adjusts the heater profile for the chosen fluid, while voltage protection helps reduce the risk of blown fuses and unexpected downtime.

It also retains 3-pin and 5-pin DMX, timer operation, low-fluid shutoff, and 1–100% output control.

A foundation that continues to grow

The Prodigy Series led to Prodigy Pro, a dual-pump platform built for high-volume professional work, and to Genesis, which pairs with compatible Prodigy generators for low-lying fog.

What began in 2017 as the first Master FX fog-machine family has become an ecosystem spanning multiple output levels, fluids, control methods, and applications.
